Culinary Academy

Launched in 1998 to counter the acute shortage of qualified chefs in Australia, Academy Sofitel's Culinary Academy is located within Sofitel Melbourne On Collins.
The Culinary Academy offers training from Certificate I to Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery. The Academy utilises a purpose-built teaching kitchen with access to four commercial kitchens within the hotel. The Culinary Academy also delivers Cookery Modules for the VET in Schools program.
Students receive classical and contemporary skills training in an environment of excellence, and training is delivered in a modular format on a day release program. Relevant industry texts are utilised for training purposes, with students also being encouraged to develop their own recipes and menus.

The Culinary Academy also offers a very popular series of culinary Masterclasses each year, under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine, Lee Atkinson and the Culinary Trainer, Romel Villacorta.
