JOHN SAVAGE - EXECUTIVE CHEF, SOFITEL MELBOURNE ON COLLINS
UK-born, John Savage knows the 5-star touch required to be Executive Chef of Sofitel Melbourne On Collins.
John began his career in 1985 at Marlowes Restaurant, gaining valuable experience whilst training at college. During his eighteen years as a chef he has also worked at the Ritz Club London, Hotel Intercontinental London, the Swallow Royal Hotel, and was Executive Chef at both the Grand Hotel Amsterdam and the House of Albert Roux.
When the Sofitel St James London opened In October 2001, John was appointed to Executive Chef, with responsibility for all food outlets.
John's cooking style has mostly been influenced by Peter Kromberg at London's Intercontinental and Albert Roux , whose cooking style was classical French with an emphasis on best quality produce, cooked in an uncomplicated style. Taste was paramount.
He moved to Melbourne to specifically take up the position at Sofitel Melbourne as Executive Sous Chef and eventually accepted the prestigious role of Executive Chef.
